Who is Geoff Thompson?
Geoff’s first book, WATCH MY BACK, detailing his experiences as a doorman in Coventry for over a decade, became a Sunday Times Best Selling Autobiography. In 2008 it was adapted into a screenplay by Geoff and filmed as a major motion picture, CLUBBED. It premiered in London’s West End, Birmingham and Paris and was nominated for a BIFFA award for Best Film.
Geoff has written forty books, published in 21 languages. He is also the author of hundreds of articles appearing in national magazines and broadsheets, including The Times, GQ and FHM.
His work as a playwright includes: DOORMAN (Liverpool Everyman, Plymouth Theatre Royal and National Tour); FRAGILE (Coventry Belgrade and Edinburgh Festival) and THE PYRAMID TEXTS (Birmingham Rep. and Soho Theatre, London).
His work as a screenwriter includes: BOUNCER, (with Ray Winstone and Paddy Considine) which was accepted into 32 international festivals and BAFTA nominated; BROWN PAPER BAG, for which he was awarded a BAFTA; ROMANS 12:20 (Best Short at the Arpa International Film Festival, Best International Short Film at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, The Grand Prize at The Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Long Form Award at Rushes Soho Shorts Festival) and the feature film THE PYRAMID TEXTS, directed by the Shammasian Brothers and starring James Cosmo which has just been nominated for ‘Best British Feature Film’ at the Edinburgh Film Festival 2015 and best actor in a British film for James Cosmo.
Geoff’s third feature film for cinematic release, ROMANS, has been optioned by The Tea Shop & Film Company in London. Paddy Considine is already attached, and is being shot in June/July, 2015.
His fourth feature film script for cinema, LAST WILL (adapted from his Sunday Times Best Selling Novel, RED MIST) was voted on the Brit List as one of the best un-produced scripts in Britain. It is currently in the production process.
Geoff has finished filming and directing his latest script, THE 20 MINUTE FILM PITCH and is also in pre-production for his 30 minute film THREE SACKS FULL OF HATS.
He recently work-shopped his play, FOOD ORDER, written for actor Nick Holder, at The National Theatre Studio.
